These days it’s possible to have just a home PC and conjure up a decent sounding, fully produced track. Of course for that one will need a little software, and some know how.

Just use web-based flash applications to conjure up beats and tunes, basically tweak around and have fun on a Wednesday morning. A budding DJ, guitarist, composer etc. is who these sites are aiming to cater to, so if you love music, then scroll south.

button beats

Buttonbeats – This one is a pure flash based soundbox, and the name says it all. Push a button, and get a sound. There are lots of modules to choose from, right from a drum kit to a futuristic looking synth. A lot of square wave bass loops are strewn across, hidden behind so many buttons. One can spend hours trying to get something sounding like a 95 Detroit techno track, but it’s not limited to just that. There is one module that makes these ambient pads, put them on loop for some nice chill vibes. The scratch pads are gimmicky, but cool.

tony b

Tony-b – Handdrawn interface, with the capability of removing a few oohs. It looks kiddish, but sure is loads of fun. This one emulates a sequencer and a sampler, as you can access typical keyboard sound samples. If you want to record it though, you have to become a member. The tunes that emerge from this one are more or less very catchy, and do sound cheesy at times. But the interface is so much fun that time will fly by on this when you’re bored.
