MP3val is a small, high-speed, free software tool for checking MPEG audio files’ integrity. It can be useful for finding corrupted files (e.g. incompletely downloaded, truncated, containing garbage). MP3val is also able to fix most of the problems. Being a multiplatform application, MP3val can be runned both under Windows and under Linux (or BSD).
MP3val enables you to scan your music files for integrity and fix corrupted MP3 files that cannot be played properly due to incomplete download, truncated headers or other problems. The program is able to fix most problems, but not all – a backup copy of your original file is created automatically. While primarily used for MP3 files, MP3val also supports other MPEG versions and layers. Standalone software, no installation. Includes the command-line version and the Frontend GUI. supports also other MPEG versions and layers.
